Dusan Vlahovic is one of the most sought-after strikers in world football at the moment, and many European clubs, including Manchester City, are reportedly interested.
However, in a recent interview with Serbian online site Politika, the Fiorentina star hinted at an imaginable contract extension, which sounded like a possible blow to Manchester City as well as other interested clubs.
However, club director Joe Barone has put an end to the 21-year-old’s claims in an interview with Sky Italia.
“We don’t allow maintenance. There is nothing new compared to what his representative told us last summer,” Barone revealed.
He did not measure his words as he opened up to the truth of the possible contractual situation, explaining: “[Vlahovic’s agent] completely disrespected us. We had reached an agreement on salaries [for a new contract], but he stopped talking because he was looking for higher commissions. The president met [Vlahovic] in November and his demands had doubled until then.
“I had a summit with [his agent] as well and there were no steps forward. He even suggested staying here until the end of his contract and leaving for free”, stated Barone.
The Fiorentina club director concluded by advising the Serbian foreigner to be transparent in this scenario, concluding: “I think Vlahovic deserves not to deceive Fiorentina fans. We are here to tell the story and the scenario has become very complex. Of course, the agent needs the player to leave with a loose transfer.
Given that Manchester City will be for a striker in the summer play window, they are expected to thoroughly assess the scenario surrounding Dusan Vlahovic before deciding on his course of action.
