As the 2020 season approached, several groups were contemplating the option of same-day travel, where possible, and then the league banned the practice, except in expressly authorized cases.
The NFL allowed the Steelers on the day of their game to oppose the Bills.
“Due to a series of schedule changes that allowed the Steelers to play a short week two weeks in a row, we asked for and were approved through the league’s workplace to go to Buffalo on game day for our Sunday night game,” Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten said. “Our arrangements and meetings will be held in Pittsburgh on Saturday night, and the team will travel to Buffalo on Sunday morning and continue with the day’s arrangements when they arrive in Buffalo,” via ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. com.
The game will be played at 8:20 ET p. m. , which will give the Steelers enough time to get to Buffalo. Tonight’s game will be Pittsburgh’s third game since Wednesday, December 2.
In 2012, the Steelers traveled game day for a contest opposed to the Giants, following a coup in the New York/New Jersey area. The Steelers won the game.
