PICO RIVERA (CBSLA) – The city of Pico Rivera is working with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to identify a distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine when approved for public release.
The distribution of Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines can begin as soon as this weekend, however, officials in the city of Pico Rivera say it is still known when their medical distribution point, or MPOD, will be activated.
“We are in a position to move forward as soon as the county gives us the green light,” city administrator Steve Carmona said in a statement.
Pico Rivera has approved its formal partnership with the county’s Department of Public Health, however, it is one of many cities that are up to the task to assist in the mass distribution of proccasion drugs in the event of an emergency of contagious, infectious or communicable diseases; chemical, biological or radioactive agents that threaten the suitability of the general public, according to officials.
Completion of a site will require a giant open area, such as a local park or sports stadium, storage, a car and a vaccination room without an appointment, a position where patients will be detained to ensure there are no immediate side effects. you want to come back in 30 days to get an extra dose.
Existing workers in the city would be reassigned with the vaccine distribution effort, and Pico Rivera says it is in the process of finishing the variety of the site where it will be distributed.
Los Angeles County expects the first 83,000 doses to arrive next week and be sent to workshops and 83 hospitals.
